FAF Names Auchincloss VP, General Counsel; Broder VP, Public Affairs

The Financial Accounting Foundation named John W. Auchincloss vice president, general counsel and Matthew J. Broder vice president, public affairs.

In his role, Auchincloss will have overall responsibility for the FAF’s legal and compliance functions and will provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the FAF, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

In his role, Broder will have overall responsibility for FAF, FASB and GASB communications, external relations and government affairs activities—including executive, internal, social and web-based communications.

“We are very pleased to welcome John and Matt to the FAF team,” said FAF President and CEO Teresa S. Polley. “John’s strategic counsel will be valuable to our organization in supporting the work of the FASB and GASB in establishing financial accounting and reporting standards.”

“Matt’s diverse background in communications and media gives him a unique perspective—which will help the FAF, FASB, and GASB as we continue to improve the way we communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders on the Boards’ activities,” added Polley.

Auchincloss most recently served as general counsel and secretary for Commonfund, a private, nonprofit asset management firm. Prior to that, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York. He began his career at Davis Polk & Wardwell in Washington, D.C. and New York City.

Broder served as vice president, External Communications, at Pitney Bowes, and as a communications executive at United Technologies prior to this appointment.
