The Trucker reported, citing data from Ward’s Information Products, that December’s new Class 8 tractor sales of 23,379 units was the second best December in the 21st century. Full year 2014 sales of 220,000 tractors were the highest since 2006, The Trucker said.

The Trucker noted that 2014 performance was seemingly in response to greater capacity demands from a still-growing economy. Sales for 2014 outdistanced 2013 sales by 19.2%.
