GE Appliance Unit Sale to Haier Receives Anti-Trust Approval

Reuters reported that U.S. anti-trust authorities have approved the proposed $5.4 billion sale of GE’s appliance business to China’s Haier Group.

A GE spokesperson told Reuters that the Department of Justice notified GE that it has completed its review of the proposed transaction.

GE previously planned to sell the appliance business to Sweden-based Electrolux for $3.3 billion, a deal it later abandoned after facing opposition from regulators.
