Onset Financial Names Former MLB Player VP Strategic Development

Wally Joyner, who played for four teams across a 16-year MLB career, joined Onset Financial as a vice president of strategic development.

Joyner has served on Onset’s board of directors since 2009. Now he will serve a full-time role, working with Onset’s seasoned management team.

“Onset Financial is thrilled to have Wally working with us on a regular basis,” said Justin Nielsen, CEO of Onset Financial. “His reputation and wealth of knowledge are invaluable.”

“I’m excited for the opportunity to have a more hands-on role at Onset,” Joyner said. “I’ve been with the company since the beginning and it’s been a pleasure watching the growth and success of the team.”

Joyner was most recently the hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers. Prior to that, he spent 16 years as a player, primarily with the California Angels, who are now the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The first baseman recorded a career slash line of .289/.362/.440, accumulated 36.2 wins above replacement and finished with a career wRC+ of 116, according to Fangraphs.

Founded in 2008, Onset Financial is an equipment leasing and financing company.
