TRALA Says Members Own 25% of All Class 2-8 Trucks

According to a new industry survey from the Truck Rental and Leasing Association, TRALA members currently own one out of every four class 2-8 commercial trucks on the road.

“The outlook for our industry remains more positive than ever before,” said Jake Jacoby, TRALA president. “TRALA members continue to serve a growing need within the marketplace to deliver the newest, cleanest and most technologically advanced trucks on the road today.”

TRALA conducted the industry-wide survey of all TRALA members, and worked with ACT Research to compile the aggregate totals to illustrate the size and scope of the U.S. truck renting and leasing industry.

Among the other findings from the survey:

  • $13.91 billion total annual “dry” rental and lease revenue for TRALA members
  • 57,501 total TRALA-member employees
  • More than 37,000 commercial lease and rental customers TRALA members serve annually
  • 15,879,000 consumer rental customers TRALA members serve annually
  • 22%-24% TRALA member share of all Class 2-7 trucks on the road today
  • 25%-28% TRALA member share of all Class 8 tractors on the road today

“With our members owning a quarter of all Class 2 through 8 commercial trucks on our highways today, we are a vital part of the U.S. economy,” said Jacoby. “We have seen significant growth in our industry over the past decade as more and more companies look to renting or leasing as a way to free up capital and outsource the maintenance of these highly advanced vehicles to the trucking experts.”
