Transport Topics: November YTD Class 8 Sales Down 22.4% Year/Year

Transport Topics reported, citing data from WardsAuto.com, Class 8 U.S. retail sales in November were off 27.5% from a year earlier amid weak demand for long-haul trucking.

Transport Topics said November 2016 was the lowest total for that month since 2012.

The trade publication noted that Class 8 retail sales for the first 11 months of 2016 were 177,035, down 22.4% from 228,021 during the same period in 2015.

Transport Topics noted that Daimler Trucks North America and Paccar accounted for nearly three-quarters of the monthly volume.
