United Rentals added Francisco J. Lopez-Balboa to the company’s board of directors, effective immediately. His appointment expands the composition of the board to 11 members, with nine as independent directors.

“Frank brings deep finance, leadership and operational expertise to our board,” Michael Kneeland, chairman of United Rentals, said. “He understands the dynamics of scale and customer service in a large, networked business oriented toward growth. We look forward to his strategic perspective as a director of United Rentals.”

Lopez-Balboa is a global finance executive with more than three decades of leadership experience. He has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cumulus Media since March 2020. Lopez-Balboa was also executive vice president and chief financial officer of Univision Communications (now TelevisaUnivision), a media company serving Hispanic America. He has more than 20 years experience specializing in the telecom, media and technology sector, and he began his investment banking career with Merrill, Lynch & Co.
