Baker Hughes: U.S. Rig Count Up 95% Year/Year



According to latest weekly report from Baker Hughes on latest rig count in the U.S. and Canada, the count as of August 4, 2017 was 954 and 217, respectively.

Baker Hughes noted that the rig count change from last year in the U.S. was up 95%, or 490, from 464 one year ago.

In Canada, Baker Hughes said the rig count change from last year was 128.4% from 95 this year’s 217.

Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity. Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975. The North American rig count is released weekly at noon central time on the last day of the work week.
