Aimee Evans runs the distribution effort for Bank of the West’s Syndications group, including commercial as well as equipment loans and leases.

Evans joined the bank seven years ago in a newly-formed role in a pre-existing group, the second time in her career that she has done so. In both cases, she relied on strong relationship-building skills to insert herself into a standing process in a constructive and engaging way, proactively building bridges with people who could occasionally be resistant to change.

VISION FOR THE FUTURE:

“I am personally hoping that the hard hats and protective eye gear get an extreme makeover as more women are involved in the business. That and closed toed shoes that work with a suit — these plant tours are brutal in heels!”

Evans believes in educating people not only to be proficient in their own role, but also be aware of how their job affects others and how their actions have impact. She attributes this idea to a manager early in her career saying, “I don’t ever want to hear anyone say, ‘That’s not my job.’ I want you to find out what the need is and assist in getting to the right solution.”

Evans also feels fortunate that, when she first started out, she landed in an operational seat at a firm that hired individuals with aspirations and both challenged and groomed employees for greater things. The requirements for that role set a great foundation for understanding the mechanics of equipment finance in addition to providing a high degree of comfort with legal documentation and negotiation. Evans has continued to carry that knowledge with her through all the permutations of her career.

Some of her most notable accomplishments have included taking on a sales role in 2001 and building that coverage business out from 20-30 investors to hundreds. She also started Bank of the West’s push into syndicating the Equipment Finance Division’s deals between 2017-2018.

“I have partnered with Aimee on many business opportunities over the past two years, and aside from her depth of industry knowledge and technical expertise, what truly makes her unique is an unrelenting passion and commitment to our clients,” says Ken Turner, Managing Director for Technology & Healthcare Solutions, Bank of the West. “Be it evenings, weekends or on an airplane, Aimee is ‘on’ in a way that creates an exceptional client experience and exudes confidence in our ability to execute.”

When not at work, Evans participates in the CT Challenge bike ride, the main source of funding for the Mission organization, which helps more than 15.5 million cancer survivors throughout the U.S. rebuild, improve and prolong their lives through better living and community-building support programs.
